Data collection

The currently released RangeOps 2.0 app keeps records entirely local. The next app update adds optional usage analytics and user-requested RevenueCat purchase checks as described below. The website already offers optional usage analytics. No account is required to use the range journal, and it never requests your location.

Optional usage analytics

Analytics is off by default. If you enable it, RangeOps sends only named feature-use events, export formats, app version and coarse first-screen timing. Website events include only named page visits and App Store button clicks. A random, installation-specific identifier groups these events; the server retains only its cryptographic hash. We do not collect record contents, photos, range or equipment names, form contents, full URLs, advertising identifiers or cross-app activity. Analytics is not linked to your email subscription or purchase identity.

Events are kept in the shared RangeOps Supabase service for up to 90 days during normal ingestion; reports include only the last 30 days. Turning analytics off requests deletion and stops new events immediately. A pending deletion is retried when you reopen the app or page online. The server retains a non-reversible suppression hash to reject delayed uploads. Clearing browser storage or uninstalling the app before a pending deletion finishes can remove its deletion credential. Hosting providers process ordinary connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure the service; these are not added to our usage event records.

Purchase status

When configured in the next app update, Check purchase status and Restore purchases start the RevenueCat connection when you request them; RevenueCat may then refresh purchase information during that app session. RevenueCat processes an anonymous purchase account identifier and store transaction information to validate purchases. Range records are never included. Advertising identifier collection and optional diagnostic reporting are disabled. Operational webhook reports retain event types and timestamps, without customer identifiers or subscriber attributes. They do not subscribe you to email. To request deletion of a RevenueCat purchase profile, contact us with the Purchase support ID shown in Settings; deleting a profile does not cancel an App Store subscription.

Your records

Ranges, equipment records, setups, ammunition lots, sessions, conditions, shot strings, target annotations and measurements are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage with iOS complete file protection. They are excluded from device backups.

Camera and photos

RangeOps uses the camera only after you tap Take Photo, and reads a photo only when you pick one, so you can measure a paper target. Images are redrawn before they are saved, which removes embedded metadata such as location, and they never leave the app unless you export a report.

Exports

Reports are created only when you ask. By default they hide the range name and lane and leave out photos. You choose where a report goes using the system share sheet.

Deleting your data

You can delete any closed session with everything attached to it, or erase every record and image from Settings. Deleting the app also removes its data.

Children

RangeOps is not directed at children. Website email signup and support are intended for adults.

Optional website emails and support

If you choose to subscribe on this website, we store your email address, optional first name, selected email categories, self-reported use of the app, consent confirmation, and email delivery records. We send marketing only after you confirm your email. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. App purchases do not automatically subscribe you, and marketing emails are not connected to your purchase history.

If you request support, we store your email address and the subject and message you submit so we can respond. Support does not subscribe you to marketing. Please do not include range records, photos, firearm identifiers, or payment information.

Supabase stores this website data, Resend delivers emails, and Cloudflare Turnstile protects the forms from abuse. Website hosting and these providers process the technical information needed to operate their services. The email system records delivery failures and complaints to stop further messages to affected addresses. The email system is separate from optional usage analytics and never receives range records.

Unsubscribing stops marketing while retaining a suppression record. The preferences link in marketing emails also lets you delete your website email profile and support history. You can request access or deletion through the privacy contact below. Data already processed in provider delivery logs is subject to that provider's retention; deleting the website profile does not erase previously delivered emails or local app records.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
